Scholarship 2008
SCCSD has been chosen to receive a $1,000 scholarship for one of our
graduating high school seniors. Interested students should meet the
following requirements:

Boy or girl
* Pacific Islander heritage includes the communities of Micronesia,
Melanesia, and Polynesia
* AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination)
* Asian, Black, Latino, and White accepted if Pacific Islander is not
available
Please return the following by March 28, 2008

SCCSD-Jonathan Tarr Scholarship – 2007
Congratulations to JOSHUA TAUANU’U,
senior at Mira Mesa High School, who is the 2007 recipient of the
Samoan Community Council of San Diego – Jonathan Tarr Scholarship.
Joshua “Josh” will be awarded the JTF scholarship of $1,000.

Many thanks and gratitude to the
Jonathan Tarr Foundation and Ms. Robin Tarr for your kind generosity
year after year. The Samoan community is grateful and honored to
receive this scholarship and past scholarships on behalf of our high
school seniors.

Jordan Kaiana Peiler of Vista, CA has been awarded one of the $500 Hannah Meredith
Scholarship for outstanding academic performance.

Recipient of the 2006 Jonathan Tarr
Foundation Scholarship
The SCCSD is proud to announce that Wesley Akeli of Oceanside,
CA has been chosen to
be the
recipient of the $1000 Jonathan Tarr Foundation Scholarship.
As a senior at Carlsbad High School, Wesley was chosen as
section leader for the Chambers Singers. He is a song writer as
well as an accomplished guitarist.
Wesley plans to attend the Musicians Institute of Hollywood.
The combination of Wesley’s Samoan and Tahitian background was a
catalyst for his affinity for music and culture.
He has participated in various Polynesian events by sharing his
music and dance talents. It is at these venues where Wesley is
able to demonstrate his strong cultural ties and iintegrity. |
